Black-Necked Stilts
The black-necked stilt is a long-legged and slender shorebird found in wetlands and estuarine habitats throughout the Americas. They have black and white plumage, with long pink legs and a long, thin black bill.
They are known for their distinctive high-pitched calls and their graceful, long-legged wading behavior as they hunt for aquatic insects, small fish, and crustaceans in shallow water.
These stilts are monogamous and typically nest in colonies on the ground, often in marshy areas or on islands in bodies of water.
They are beautiful and elegant birds that are a delight to observe in their natural habitats.
