Woodpeckers
Woodpeckers are a type of bird known for their drumming behavior, where they peck on trees to communicate with other woodpeckers and establish their territory. They have strong bills that help them drill into trees to find insects, and they are also known for their distinctive red, black, and white plumage.
Woodpeckers are found in various habitats around the world and play an important role in controlling insect populations in forests. Shown here are four different species of woodpeckers: the Northern flicker, the red-headed woodpecker, the pileated woodpecker and the red-bellied woodpecker. Of these four species, the red-headed woodpeckers are the rarest and the most aggressive.
