The beauty of the snail kites
05/05/24 11:49
As I headed out to the marsh at daybreak, I could smell the sweetness of the morning air. There was a slight breeze coming from the easterly direction. This was the preferred wind direction since it guarantees that the snail kites would be facing me as it descends into the water. Every photographer knows that birds tend to face the wind as they land since it gives them more lift.
Just when I arrived
a
my spot overlooking the pond, one snail kite was already circling over the water as it looked for snails.
The slow, deliberate way the snail kite hovers over the water, patiently scanning for its prey, is reminiscent of the slow and contemplative opening movement of Beethoven's third symphony, also known as the "Eroica" symphony. That happened to be the music I was listening to on my Bose Black Diamond earpiece.

Just as the music builds in intensity and complexity, so does the snail kite's hunt as it swoops down gracefully to catch its elusive prey. The parallels between the graceful movement of the bird and the emotional depth of Beethoven's music highlight the beauty and power of nature and art converging in perfect harmony.
